Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has nominated Olayide Owolabi Adelami, as his deputy. Recall that Ayedatiwa assumed the role of the state governor after the demise of former governor, Rotimi Akeredolu who died in a German hospital last December. With the elevation of Ayedatiwa, then deputy to Akeredolu, a vacuum for the position of a deputy governor was created.
The deputy governor nominee hails from Owo, the hometown of the late Akeredolu.
He was educated at Imade College in Owo before pursuing GCE A level at The Polytechnic, Ibadan. He later went to the University of Lagos where he acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Adelami also obtained a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye. He was employed by the Federal Civil Service as an Accountant II in December 1983 and was posted to the Treasury Department of the Accountant General of the Federation office.
His nomination was announced few hours after governor Ayedatiwa sacked the entire members of the state executive council.
The house of assembly is expected to screen Adelami before his swearing in as the deputy governor.
