The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the GS Foundation, has launched an Advanced Facilitators Training Programme aimed at enhancing the instructional and leadership capabilities of its officers.
The training, held at the National Institute of Police Studies (NIPS) in Abuja, is taking place in two sessions: the first from 10th to 15th February, and the second from 17th to 22nd February 2025.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., reiterated the importance of continuous training in driving reforms within the NPF.
Represented by Commissioner of Police Rashad B. Afegbua, head of the Department of Training and Development, the IGP stated, “This programme is a critical step in our ongoing efforts to enhance professionalism, excellence, and service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force. By investing in our personnel, we are laying the foundation for a more effective and reformed policing system in Nigeria.”
Participants in the programme were carefully selected based on their outstanding performance in the Basic Facilitators Programme. The advanced training aims to equip them with high-level facilitation skills, enabling them to train other officers and ensure a sustainable capacity-building framework within the Force.
The NPF expressed its appreciation to the UNDP and GS Foundation for their support. “The NPF appreciates the UNDP and GS Foundation for their invaluable support in sponsoring this programme, further strengthening the Force’s commitment to professionalism, excellence, and improved service delivery,” the statement read.
