Lere Olayinka, who speaks for FCT Minister Wike, says former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has badly damaged the PDP with his repeated presidential ambitions.
Speaking on Channels TV on Thursday, Olayinka reacted to Atiku’s announcement that he is leaving the party because of deep internal problems. Olayinka claims Atiku is the one who caused those problems and now “has jumped ship.”
He warned Atiku not to try to return once other party members finish rebuilding the PDP. “Today, the PDP has been so destroyed and damaged by this one man, Atiku Abubakar, who is now gone.
“When highly spirited members of the party come together to rebuild the party, Atiku should not come back after he has failed in his new political journey because I know he is going to fail.
“The only thing that interests Atiku Abubakar is to become Nigeria’s President. I’m beginning to wonder whether a doctor prescribed ‘Presidency’ for him, and if he doesn’t become President, something will happen to him,” Olayinka said.
He added that the PDP now needs to put itself in order, even if that does not immediately help its chances in the 2027 elections.
