The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has said elections would be held in 13,325 polling units across the state, saying that 7,600,195 registered voters are expected to participate in the election process on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Chairman of the Commission, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Igbile (retd) disclosed this during a press conference on Thursday.
Okikiolu-Igbile disclosed that 6,214, 975 Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) were collected while 8450 were uncollected.
She added that the Commission had been engaging with the stakeholders including Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs), media, and political parties to promote inclusivity and transparency.
” We issued notice elections and election guidelines and before then we visited all the Commission’s offices in LG and LCDAs. We partnered with relevant organisations to sensitize voters and educate them on the electoral process. We went to markets, the 3 senatorial districts
” Materials have already been deployed to various LASIEC zonal offices. We have trained our staff and done the validations”.
Okikiolu-Igbile added ” Voting process starts by 8am and end at 3pm. Each voter shall cast her or his vote where registered”, adding “We have ensured the polling units are nearer to the voters and we are given the PWDs priority and they can come to the polling units with assistants. We are given priority to pregnant women, and aged ones.
She assured voters of adequate security during the election, saying there would be four security officers at each polling unit.
We assured of credible elections and deviod of violence, harassment, appealing to all candidates to uphold democratic ethos.
