In a bold move to boost voter enrollment, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a N20 million cash reward for the Local Government Area that registers the highest number of new voters in the ongoing nationwide exercise.
The party’s state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, unveiled the incentive scheme on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, during a Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island.
Ojelabi detailed a tiered reward system, stating that the ward with the highest number of new registrations would also be awarded N5 million. He emphasized that the initiative is a core part of the party’s strategy to mobilize widespread participation for the 2027 general elections.
“The party is not leaving anything to chance in mobilising people to register and collect their PVCs,” Ojelabi told party chieftains and members. He assured them that all necessary structures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and successful registration drive, urging every member to actively mobilize potential voters in their communities.
The financial incentive, according to the chairman, is designed to reward the grassroots efforts of members working to secure a strong voter base for the APC ahead of the next electoral cycle.
In a related development, Ojelabi announced that the party would refund nomination fees to aspirants who were unsuccessful in the recently concluded local government elections and were not subsequently appointed as aides by the newly inaugurated council chairmen.
He clarified that the refunds would be processed after the 57 Local Government chairmen across the state have completed the appointment of their key aides.
The high-profile stakeholders’ forum, which saw the presence of prominent figures including former governor Akinwunmi Ambode, signals a consolidated effort by the Lagos APC to galvanize its structure ahead of the 2027 polls.
