The television programme “Know Your Representative With Mariah”, hosted and executive produced by Nigerian journalist Mariah Olasehinde, has celebrated its fifth anniversary. The half-hour weekly current-affairs show – broadcast on TVC News (and also reaching audiences via the Nigerian Television Authority) – highlights development projects undertaken by Nigerian lawmakers in their constituencies.
Since its launch in 2020, the programme has focused on documenting these often under-reported constituency projects, “capturing the untold stories of the good work of Nigerian lawmakers in their constituencies” and showcasing “the unsung developmental projects” they have implemented.
Olasehinde marked the anniversary with a celebratory post on her official Facebook page, thanking God, her team, family and the lawmakers who have supported the show. In the public post she wrote, “I have come to give all the glory to God Almighty because His Grace, Mercy & faithfulness endureth forever, my programme Know Your Representatives with Mariah is 5years today.”
She continued, “Hmmmn 5years is not 5weeks, months, days…” and added, “Thank you to all the Lawmakers who have featured on my programme and has kept us in business. God will reward you richly and grant you the wisdom to keep representing your Constituents.” These remarks underscore her gratitude for the milestone and the programme’s impact on showcasing legislators’ community projects.
Mariah Olasehinde is a veteran Nigerian broadcast journalist, media entrepreneur and consultant with roughly two decades of experience. She “is a broadcast journalist with over a decade of experience in journalism” and is CEO of Marbays Communications Ltd (owners of the MarbaysTV online platform).
Olasehinde earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Abuja in 2001 and a Master’s in Public Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). She is reportedly now pursuing a PhD in Public Governance & Leadership at the University of Abuja. In her professional affiliations, Olasehinde is an accredited Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (ANIPR) and a member of the Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (IBAN). She is married with children.
Throughout its five-year run, ‘Know Your Representative with Mariah’ has built a reputation as a platform for legislators to discuss and publicize their constituency development initiatives. The programme’s objective – to document and spotlight these under-reported projects – remains central to its mission. Olasehinde’s anniversary tribute highlights both her personal faith and her appreciation for the lawmakers who have participated in the series, reinforcing the show’s role in celebrating positive community impact.
