Residents of Portharcourt woke up Wednesday morning to the sight of bulldozers, pulling down the House of Assembly complex.
Recall that, there has been an ongoing scuffle between the Rivers state Governor, Sim Fubara and lawmakers who are loyal to his estranged godfather, Nyesome Wike.
Tuesday demolition started at around 7:30am, weeks after the same complex was set ablaze by some yet-to-be-identified youths in reaction to an alleged plan impeachment of the governor.
Although, the reason for the demolition is yet unknown, political watchers say it may not be unconnected with the recent decamping of some 27 legislators to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for a likely revival of the impeachment exercise.
