The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday removed Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, citing multiple financial and statutory violations. Deputy Speaker Lasbat Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1 and formerly served as the House’s chief whip, was swiftly appointed as his replacement.
The move comes just days after reports of his role in facilitating the withdrawal of N43.5 billion for backup vehicles for lawmakers, alongside other disputed activities.
