The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun Council, has expressed appreciation to the lawmaker representing Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal constituency, Gboyega Isiaka for donating 100 branded executive chairs to the council.
Mr Bunmi Adigun, the Secretary of the Council, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Saturday.
According to the statement, the gesture is seen as a remarkable contribution to the welfare and working environment of journalists in the state.
The Chairman of the council, Wale Olanrewaju, described the donation as timely, impactful and a clear demonstration of the lawmakers unwavering support for the union.
Olanrewaju emphasised that the new chairs would enhance the comfort and productivity of members while further uplifting the image of the council.
The chairman stated that the donation reflected Isiaka’s long standing relationship with the press and his consistent belief in the power of the media to drive positive change.
” The gesture is not just an act of kindness but a testament to Isiaka’s visionary leadership.
” We pledge to make judicious use of the chairs and ready to continue to uphold the ethics of the profession.
” We call on other well-meaning individuals and institutions to emulate this laudable example by supporting the press in ways that strengthen its capacity to serve society better,” he said.
Olanrewaju noted that the lawmaker had reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the media as a vital partner in deepening democracy, good governance, and accountability.
