The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has officially renamed Charly Boy Bus Stop to Baddo Bus Stop in honor of popular rapper Olamide Adedeji, widely known as Baddo. The change is part of a broader street renaming initiative to recognize individuals who have brought pride to the community through their achievements.
Hon. Kolade Alabi David, the outgoing council chairman whose tenure ended on Friday, announced the renaming exercise. He explained that the decision was made to celebrate those who have elevated Bariga’s reputation both locally and internationally.
“As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft, as well as eminent personalities in our nation and our beloved state and Local Council who have contributed immensely to development,” David said.
Renamed Streets Include Ilaje Road now to be known as King Sunny Ade Road, Bariga Road now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way,
Community Road, Akoka renamed Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road and Ajidagan Street changed to Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street.
Others include Ifeanyi Street renamed Abolore Akande (9ice) Street, Ayodele Street, Ladi-Lak now to be known as Tony Tetuila Street and Ilojo Crescent, Obanikoro renamed Bukayo Saka Street in honour of British Soccer Star who plays for Arsenal FC.
The renaming follows a similar move by Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, which recently renamed 24 streets in its jurisdiction. The Bariga LCDA’s initiative aims to preserve the legacies of influential figures while inspiring future generations.
