The Nigeria Police Force has announced a series of successful operations across multiple states, resulting in the rescue of 12 kidnapped victims, the neutralization of a suspected bandit, and the recovery of arms, ammunition, and N10.3 million in cash.
In a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police detailed coordinated sting operations that led to significant breakthroughs in Imo and Edo States.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, stormed a suspected hideout of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Ubahu, Okigwe Local Government Area, in the early hours of April 17.
“The suspects opened fire upon sighting the operatives, leading to a gun battle,” the statement read. Three suspects—Onyekaba Ikenna Innocent (21), Ugwu Ikenna (31), and Ofor Kasarachi (37)—were arrested.

Recovered items included: One AK-47 rifle, Two pump-action guns, Eighteen live cartridges, Mobile devices and laptops, and ₦10.3 million suspected to be ransom proceeds
In Edo State, police operatives swiftly responded to the abduction of 10 students en route to Babcock University for the annual GYC Africa conference on April 16.
“A fierce gun duel ensued, leading to the neutralization of one kidnapper,” the police reported. “All 10 victims were rescued unharmed.”
Additionally, on April 18, two other kidnap victims, abducted from their Oluoke community residence on April 14, were successfully freed.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the operatives for their bravery and professionalism. “The Nigeria Police Force remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property while upholding human rights,” the statement emphasized.
