Mojisola Meranda representing Apapa Constituency I has been sworn in as the new speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. She took her oath of office after the impeachment of former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
The new speaker, who is the first female speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. was the House’s chief whip until her appointment.
Obasa has been embroiled in multiple controversies regarding financial dealings.
His impeachment comes just a month after he was accused of spending N17 billion to renovate a gate leading to the assembly.
