Sen. Solomon Adeola (APC-Ogun West), the party’s governorship candidate in Ogun, has pledged to construct an ultra-modern market at Olomore and rehabilitate roads in the area.
Adeola made the pledge on Monday at an endorsement ceremony organised by the 24 unions under the United Traders Forum (UTF) at Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta.
He said construction workers would visit the Olomore market site during the week to commence work on the project.
The senator also promised to construct roads requested by some trade groups under the forum to improve the business environment and facilitate movement of goods.
Adeola announced a N50,000 grant for each of 5,000 UTF members, alongside additional financial support for the forum.
He said the support, endorsement and financial contributions from the traders would not be taken for granted, assuring them of continued attention to their concerns.
Among the groups that contributed N1 million each were the Plank Sellers Association of Ogun, Olomore Ram, Pepper and Fish Sellers, Mobile Phones Dealers and Technicians Association and Kemta Indigenous Timber Contractors.
Others included Egba Ram and Goat Sellers, which also presented a ram to Adeola, and the Nigeria Automobile and Technicians Association (NATA).
Earlier, Alhaji Fasiu Ajadi, UTF President, said the forum endorsed Adeola because of what he described as his developmental projects across the state.
Ajadi said all members of the forum possessed Permanent Voter Cards and were prepared to persuade their family members to support Adeola in the 2027 governorship election.
He said Olomore traders desired a modern market similar to the one constructed by Adeola at Panseke and other locations across Ogun.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, deputy governorship candidate; former Speakers of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hons. Tunji Egbetokun and Titi Oseni Sodunke.
Others were former Speaker Suraju Adekumbi, former PDP Chairman Sikirulai Ogundele, former APC Chairman Derin Adebiyi, Commissioner for Forestry Taiwo Oludotun and Commissioner for Housing Omoniyi Jagunmolu Akande.
