The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says the Benin-Egbin 330kV transmission line has been restored following a power disruption in Lagos.
This is contained in a statement on Thursday by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah
TCN said the incident occurred at about 8:19 a.m. on Thursday after voltage instability spread across the Lagos corridor, affecting electricity supply in the area.
The company said the disturbance led to the loss of some generating stations and outages on transmission lines within the Lagos complex.
It said the National Control Centre directed some generators to reduce output to stabilise the system and prevent further disruptions to the national grid.
TCN said the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe, convened an emergency meeting with TCN and the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) to coordinate restoration efforts.
According to the company, the Benin-Egbin 330kV transmission line has been restored and is currently transmitting bulk electricity to the affected areas.
It said engineers from the Benin and Omotoso subregions were working to rectify faults on the Benin-Omotoso 330kV transmission line.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience caused to residents, businesses and electricity consumers affected by the disruption.
The company assured Nigerians that all relevant agencies were working to ensure full restoration of bulk power supply to the Lagos complex.
It added that efforts were ongoing to strengthen the national grid and minimise future occurrences of similar incidents.
TCN appealed to consumers to remain patient, assuring them that updates would be provided as restoration work progressed.
