The All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, on tuesday re-elected Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi as chairman for another four year term. Ojelabi was elected through a consensus at the Mobolaji Joshnson Arena, Lagos.
Party leaders said they took a unanimous decision after a series of consultations, to clear the path for Ojelabi’s to run as head of the party. The National working Committee announced his reaffirmation at the Large party delegates gathering.
Sources within the party disclosed that the return of the one term excos was an instruction given by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which also dropped some of the Excos that have spent two terms in office the as party excos. Leaders in this category include the State woman Leaders and other officials.
However, some members of the party expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision that led to the emergence of candidates at the recent local government primaries of the party in the state. Yet, many agreed that Ojelabi’s overall performance earned him the confidence of the leadership.
One of the outgoing exco in an interview with TheWest newspaper, commended Ojelabi, he said the party Chairman has “..done creditably well” adding that leaders believe continuity will strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his part, applauded the State Congress committee for a good job done, especially in putting the congress together within a short notice and also making the screening of the candidates smooth. He assured the Party Excos of better synergy between the party and the Lagos state government, while suing for unity, peace and equality within the executive team as they carry out their responsibilities.
“In the entire country, we have demonstrated that the party is supreme,” Sanwo-olu said, adding that “We have shown to everybody that for us in Lagos, (0:09) we are invited and we are strengthened by the unity of purpose.”

In his remarks, the re-elected Chairman of Lagos APC, declared his tenure as an administration for all, as a time to come together and work for the victory of the party. “As I reflect on the journey of the past four years, I am filled with pride in all we have accomplished together, from strengthening our party structure to securing victories at IPUs,” he said.
He stressed that the excos are ready to deliver in their capacities as they have a task ahead of the electioneering season. Ojelabi assured the party of a level play ground that will unite party members across the wards, local government and the state .
