The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the sudden death of renowned Yoruba actress and producer, Allwell Ademola, just four days before the end of the year.
The actress, 43, died on Saturday, December 27, 2025, after suffering a heart attack at her residence in Lagos.
According to industry sources, concerns about her health were raised earlier on Saturday when a neighbour alerted a WhatsApp group that she was receiving treatment at a clinic in the Agege area.
She was later rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Her death was confirmed by several colleagues, including actress Faithia Williams, who expressed shock on Instagram, writing, “This hit me so bad, Eniobanke.” Tributes also poured in from fellow actors Mide Martins and Bidemi Kosoko.
In a poignant twist, Ademola had shared a reflective post on social media hours before her passing, praying to witness the end of the year.
A respected figure in Nollywood with a career spanning decades, Ademola was known for her versatility and memorable roles, most notably as ‘Mama Kate’ in the 2018 film Ile Wa. She was also a granddaughter of Nigeria’s first indigenous Chief Justice, Sir Adetokunbo Ademola.
As of the time of reporting, no official statement has been released by her family, and funeral arrangements remain undisclosed. The industry continues to grieve the loss of a beloved talent whose death has cast a shadow over the holiday season.
