The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ogun state on Tuesday inaugurated new executives , re-electing Mr Yemi Sanusi as the Party Chairman for the next four years.
Welcoming delegates from the 20 local government areas to the State Congress held in Abeokuta, Mr Wale Ohu, the Chairman, Congress Committee, said the exercise was conducted by affirmation, as there were no contending forces.
Ohu noted that the leadership of the party had ensured unity, resulting in a single list of candidates.
He disclosed that 1,180 elected delegates, excluding statutory delegates, participated in the congress and unanimously affirmed the officers without dissent.
He subsequently pronounced the affirmed officers as the duly elected State Executive Committee members of the APC in Ogun state for a four-year term.
He expressed confidence that they would justify the trust reposed in them.
The chairman of the congress committee commended Gov. Dapo Abiodun for fostering cohesion and vibrancy within the APC in the state.
He explained that members of the committee were drawn from different states and had the opportunity to assess developments nationwide.
He added that in their reports, they had consistently acknowledged the cohesion and internal harmony within the party in Ogun.
In his address, the governor said principled leadership and transparent processes remained critical to securing sustainable electoral victory for the party.
Abiodun said that integrity, discipline and grassroots engagement guaranteed enduring success statewide.
The governor urged newly elected executives to uphold the party constitution, promote unity and ensure inclusiveness. saying that their roles were strategic and must translate into voter confidence and victory.
Abiodun described the congress as a defining democratic moment, noting that healthy contest strengthens democracy. urging members to close ranks.
He commended President Bola Tinubu’s reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda and reaffirmed commitment to unity, discipline and service to secure electoral victories in 2027.
In his speech, the reelected chairman dedicated his victory to the party’s hierarchy, Gov. Abiodun, and the entire membership base for their continued trust in his leadership.
“I am deeply humbled by this renewed mandate to continue steering the ship of our great party in Ogun state.
“This is not a victory for me alone, but a victory for the progressive ideals we stand for.
“We will run an inclusive administration that will accommodate every stakeholder and ensure that our party remains united and strong ahead of future elections,”he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that officials of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were on ground to monitor the exercise.
