A Lagos State governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has disowned a press release circulating in the media that purportedly quoted him endorsing Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the party’s candidate for the 2027 election.
In a disclaimer issued on Thursday, Ajose described the publication as “fictitious, unsanctioned and malicious in intent,” adding that it does not represent his position, his campaign’s position, or the position of anyone authorised to speak on his behalf.
Ajose also denied playing any part in the decisions of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), which had earlier adopted Hamzat as its consensus governorship aspirant.
“I urge the good people of Lagos State and my supporters across the country to disregard it entirely,” the statement read.
“I further urge responsible media houses to refrain from amplifying what is, in legal terms, a defamatory and potentially criminal instrument designed to manipulate public opinion and damage my standing.”
The aspirant issued a 12-hour ultimatum to all parties who have published or continue to circulate the material, demanding immediate retraction and full deletion.
“Legal proceedings for reputational and electoral damages will follow without further notice,” Ajose warned.
The disclaimer was issued on his personal authority and that of his campaign organisation.
