In preparation for the local government elections scheduled to hold across Osun State on Saturday, February 22, Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered a statewide restriction of vehicular movement from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The directive, announced on Friday, is aimed at ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process. According to a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the restriction is necessary to prevent the importation of hoodlums into the state during the elections.
Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining peace and security, urging residents to comply with the restriction.
He also directed security agencies to strictly enforce the order while allowing only voters, accredited journalists, and civil society organizations to move freely within the state.
“The movement restriction is necessary to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and ensure the continued peace and security of Osun State,” the statement read.
Security operatives have been tasked with ensuring compliance with the directive as residents prepare to elect their local government representatives.
