Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Sen. Solomon Adeola (APC-Ogun West), has donated more than N50 million and 1,000 bags of rice to his constituents for Christmas.
His Media Adviser, Mr Kayode Odunaro, stated in Abeokuta on Monday that the gesture was in keeping with the tradition of extending goodwill to his constituents and to others during festivities.
Odunaro added that each ward in Ogun West Senatorial District received N500,000 and 10 bags of rice for Christmas.
He stated also that interest groups like the Christian Association of Nigeria, the League of Imams, traditional rulers, community leaders and others received cash, rice, cows and other gifts.
Odunaro quoted Adeola as saying that Nigerians must celebrate Christmas and other festivities notwithstanding the current economic challenges.
“Since I joined politics and serving in public office as a legislator for more than 20 years, it is a thing of joy to reach out to my people in various forms to ensure they enjoy each seasonal celebration.
“It is part of my effective representation of my people and by God’s grace this will continue for years to come,’’ Adeola said in the statement.
The senator urged his constituents to expect better days in the years ahead, saying he would work towards turning the district to a developed region.
