The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Publicity Secretary, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye, who passed away on Friday in the United Kingdom after a prolonged illness.
Oladunjoye’s family confirmed his demise in an emotional statement posted on his Facebook page, describing him as a man of “exceptional honour, integrity, and boundless kindness.”
“It is with deep sorrow and total submission to the divine will of Almighty Allah that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, and esteemed leader, Alhaji Abdulraheem Olatunde Ayinde Oladunjoye, who returned to his Lord on Friday, 4th April 2025,” the family said.
The late politician, who also served as a media consultant to Governor Dapo Abiodun, was hailed as a stabilizing force in Ogun APC and government circles. His death triggered an outpouring of tributes, with Governor Abiodun lamenting the loss of an “uncommonly cerebral” and loyal party man.
“Receiving the news of the departure of our gallant, highly resourceful, and hardworking party spokesman and consultant, Tunde Oladunjoye, was devastating for me,” Abiodun said in a statement. “This is tragic news that is, frankly, difficult to fathom—one death too many.”
The governor praised Oladunjoye’s unwavering dedication, describing him as “the best spokesman Ogun APC has ever produced” and a “voice of courage” who played a pivotal role in the party’s successes.
“As a party man and aide, Oladunjoye never believed in half measures. He defended the programmes, policies, and image of the Ogun State Government with uncommon dedication,” Abiodun added. “He was frank, down-to-earth, and focused. A good man who will be sorely missed.”
Before his role as APC spokesman, Oladunjoye had served as Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government and was the deputy governorship candidate to the late General Adetunji Olurin in a past election. A seasoned journalist and politician, his death has left a void in Ogun’s political landscape.
The family stated that funeral arrangements would be announced later. Governor Abiodun extended condolences to Oladunjoye’s immediate family, the APC, and associates, praying: “Eternal rest grant him, O Lord!”
