The Office of the wife of Nigeria’s President, Oluremi Timubu has responded to a viral video showing nursing students chanting playfully during her visit to Delta State earlier this week. The incident occurred during the Renewed Hope Initiative’s donation of 10,000 professional kits to midwives in the South-South zone at the Dome Event Centre in Asaba on Tuesday, March 25.
The event, aimed at reducing infant and maternal mortality by motivating midwives nationwide, was attended by healthcare professionals, women’s groups, and student nurses.
While the Mrs. Tinubu appreciated the warm reception from the Delta State Government and attendees, a section of the video captured students altering the welcome chant in a light-hearted manner.

Following the incident, reports emerged that some students from the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences had been issued queries over their participation in the chants.
In a statement signed by Busola Kukoyi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to Mrs. Tinubu, the office acknowledged the institution’s right to uphold discipline but urged understanding, noting that students often express excitement in jovial ways.
“While we respect the authority of educational institutions to maintain order, it is important to recognize that students, in moments of enthusiasm, may engage in harmless, playful expressions,” the statement read.
Mrs Tinubu’s office emphasized that the visit was intended to inspire healthcare workers and students, and it hoped the event would remain a positive experience for all involved.
The statement further encouraged the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences to handle the matter with fairness, balancing discipline with freedom of expression to ensure a conducive learning environment.
