Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, Wednesday said the ruling APC was not ready to leave an inch for the opposition parties in the July 12 Local Government elections.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed this while charging party leaders and members to mobilise votes for the party at the APC Lagos West 1 Senatorial District Mega Rally on Wednesday at Ifako-Ijaiye area of the state.
Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, urged stakeholders to work hard and ensure opposition parties did not secure any seat in the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
The governor said: “We are a party of the people. We are delivering dividends of democracy to our people and we are proud.
“Let us come out in unity to support our candidates so that in 2027 we will deliver our state for APC.
“We are here today to galvanise votes and deliver come July 12 so that our party can win in all the 57 LGs and LCDAs and all the 376 councillorship seats.
“We are not leaving an inch for opponents. We are not leaving an inch for them, we are taking everything. Let us go there and take what belongs to us.”
Sanwo-Olu, who urged party members to make President Bola Tinubu and APC proud with the results of the elections, said that the President had done a lot to reform the country.
According to him, the President is carrying out several reforms to save future generations from facing what the current generation has been facing.
“APC is doing well at the federal, state and local government levels. We should not be ashamed to promote what the APC is doing. Let us come out and mobilise, we must deliver all the 57 LGs/LCDAs.
“We are the only party in Lagos and we are doing very well. Our party will never be put to shame.
“We must talk to our people about the good things that our party has offered this state and what our President, is doing to re-engineer our country.
“Our President is doing well, our state government is going well, our National and House of Assembly, council chairmen and councillors are doing well. We have nothing to be afraid of. We have a lot to be proud of.
“We have a lot of projects. As we are doing roads, we are building hospitals, we are schools and others,” he boasted.
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, who urged all stakeholders to join hand and work for the party, said that only APC could fulfill the yearnings of the people.
Stating that Lagos West I Senatorial District must not lag behind in showcasing its voting strength, Obasa called on members to reach out and mobilise people with PVCs for the elections.
Also speaking, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire. the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), who extended the President’s compliments to party faithful, said Tinubu was working round the clock to reset the country.
Orelope-Adefulire, who said that the President wanted the state to take the council polls very serious, urged them to mobilise friends, family members and neighbours to come out en mass and vote APC.
Speaking, Rep. James Faleke, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, expressed confidence that APC would win in all the 57 council areas.
“No other party is in Lagos. APC is the winning party. In Lagos, APC will continue to excel. We have seen all the developments across Lagos State.
“We have seen structures, roads, school and by the special grace of God we will see more from the next coming council chairmen.
“We must commend our President for giving us these 37 LCDAs. We want you all to go out and vote for APC and our party will win,” Faleke said.
Chief Rabiu Oluwa, APC’s Lagos West Senatorial Leader and members of the Governance Advisory Council, urged party members and leaders not to fold hands but engage in rigorous campaigns.
“This local government election must be taken very serious. It will be the litmus test for 2027 general elections, so we must not sit back.
“LASIEC is not going to write election results, it is the vote we cast that will determine the outcome. We must not sit at home but rise up to mobilise all stakeholders in the state.”
The rally was attended by various APC leaders, including GAC members, federal and state lawmakers, polled thousands of party members and loyalists across the 18 council areas in Lagos West 1 Senatorial Ditrict.
