Lagos lawmaker representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency II, Lukmon Olumoh, has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning the upcoming local government election in Ifelodun LCDA on July 12.
Olumoh made the statement on Wednesday at the grand finale of the APC campaign rally in Ifelodun, which marked the end of political activities in line with guidelines from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
Olumoh, who also serves as the Director-General of the campaign committee for the APC chairmanship candidate in Ifelodun LCDA, Hon. Akanbi Okeowo, said the APC is fully prepared for victory.
“The local government elections across the state will be a landslide victory for our party. The APC has been actively sensitizing the electorate on the importance of voting. We’ve engaged various communities, CDAs, and ethnic groups to reawaken their commitment to the party. We’re ready to contest and win,” he said.
Also addressing the crowd, the political leader of Badagry Division and Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency, Alhaji Rabiu Oluwa, urged residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). According to him, the election is a test of the APC’s popularity ahead of the 2027 general election.
“This local government election is a litmus test for the APC after losing Lagos to the Labour Party in 2023. Victory is achieved with PVCs, not noise or violence. Those without PVCs should ensure they register once INEC resumes the process,” Oluwa added.
Adding his voice, Chairman of the Arewa Community in APC Lagos, Alhaji Sa’adu Yusuf, spoke in Hausa, appealing to northern residents to support the APC massively.
“We must come out in large numbers — with our families, friends, and even persons living with disabilities — to vote for APC candidates in the chairmanship and councillorship elections on Saturday,” he said.
The rally was attended by key political figures including Hon. Surajudeen Taju (Ojo Constituency II), Hon. Sabour Oluwa (Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency I), Hon. Paul Kalejaiye (Ajeromi-Ifelodun Federal Constituency), several commissioners, former lawmakers, transport union leaders, market women, and traditional rulers from various ethnic groups.
