The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the APC State Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation and sighted by TheWest, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the entire stretch of ACME Road in Ogba will be closed to vehicular movement during the primaries to ensure order and security around the venue.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes as ACME Road will not be accessible from the Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande, and ACME Crescent ends.
The government has recommended the following alternative routes:
- Motorists from Adeniyi Jones should link Aromire to access Allen Junction.
- Those coming from Allen Avenue are advised to take Aromire, connect Ladipo Oluwole, and pass through Guinness.
- Drivers approaching from Akilo Road may use Wemco Road to link Lateef Jakande or continue toward Omole.
The advisory urges members of the public to avoid the ACME Road axis unless travel is essential, in order to reduce congestion and allow for a smoother traffic experience during the event.
Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed across the affected routes to manage and ease traffic flow throughout the day.
The Ministry of Transportation emphasized that the measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and convenience of road users during the political exercise.
