President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State for a ministerial position, forwarding his name to the Senate for confirmation.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The nomination is intended to fill the vacancy created by the exit of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, who was elected as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
According to the official statement, Dr. Doro brings over two decades of multidisciplinary professional experience from both the United Kingdom and Nigeria. His background spans clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and strategic leadership.
The nominee’s academic credentials include degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a specialization in IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. He is a licensed Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), having worked in urgent care centers, general practitioner practices, and hospital settings.
Beyond his clinical roles, the presidency highlighted Dr. Doro’s involvement in community-focused initiatives, noting his active participation in youth mentorship and other social impact programs within the Nigerian diaspora and local communities.
The nomination is now pending before the Senate, where Dr. Doro will undergo the standard screening and confirmation process before he can be sworn in as a member of the Federal Executive Council.
