The Ogun State Security Network Agency, (Amotekun Corps), in collaboration with the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps), has successfully apprehended a notorious suspected criminal , Usman Abdullahi, alias A.K.
According to a statement in Abeokuta by Col. Tajudeen Bakare (rtd), Deputy Corps Commander, Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps) , the suspect was nabbed in a joint operation on Saturday, in Ijebu-Ode.
Bakare stated that the suspect, a native of Lumbasa Local Government Area of Katsina State, had been on the list of all security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, in and around Ijebu-Ode.
He explained that the suspect was arrested following an intelligence received by the Amotekun operatives about the suspect’s whereabouts in Ijebu-Ode, near the So-Safe Corps office at Itoro Local Government.
” Upon receiving the reliable intelligence, the Amotekun operation team swiftly swung into action, converging with the So-Safe Corps officers at the location for the coordinated operation which led to the successful apprehension of the suspect.
” This action exemplified commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
” In the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to various crimes, including; stealing, aiding kidnapping, membership in the Eiye cult confraternity group and other social menaces.
” Items including one locally made pistol, a knife, two ice bunkers, lighters, and a waist charm were recovered from him before he was subsequently handed over to the Obalende Police Division, with the exhibits, for further investigation and prosecution.
” This successful operation, no doubts, highlights the effectiveness of the partnership between Amotekun and So-Safe Corps, as well as other security agencies in the State.
” It demonstrates the Amotekun Corps unwavering commitment in working together to combat crime, maintain peace, and ensure the safety and security of citizens in the State,” he said.
Bakare stated that the Corps, however, commend the operatives involved in the operation for their bravery and diligence, encouraging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local security agencies.
He added that the fight against crime continues towards maintaining peace and security in the state.
