Adegbenro Nurudeen Adenekan, a broadcaster with Mainland 98.3 FM, has publicly apologized to the Agege Local Government Chairman, High Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, days after being detained following allegations of online harassment. He said he did not intend to “attack or cyberstalk” the chairman or his family and pledged to continue objective reportage.
Shortly after his apology, Adenekan was released by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, where he had been invited for questioning over an official petition accusing him of cyberstalking, bullying, making threats, and inciting public unrest.

Posting on his Facebook wall on Tuesday, the Journalist said: “As I settle the matter between Agege Local Government Chairman, [High Chief] Ganiyu Egunjobi and I, he revealed how some of my posts have attacked him and his family which was not intended. I felt bad because my presentation was not meant to attack or cyberstalk him but disseminate information to the public.
“With that, I personally apologize if my posts have attacked him and his family members. It is not intended. As I continue my job of information dissemination, I promise to continue my objective reportage and undiluted delivery” he explained.
Earlier, High Chief Egunjobi told TheWest newspaper that he had sought Adenekan’s detention to compel him to stop cyberbullying him. “He already apologized, and really, that’s all that matters. I hope he will stop the act. He is a brother to me, and I won’t gain anything by getting him punished… He has been released in good spirit after he apologized in the presence of the police,” The Agege Council Boss told TheWest in a telephone chat.
