In a major step toward political reconciliation, Chief Musibau Obanla, a leading figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ipokia Local Government, led key party stakeholders to welcome Hon. Adekunle Akinlade and his supporters back into the party.
The event held in Ipokia drew prominent APC leaders including the Executive Chairman of Ipokia, Hon. Afose Johnson; his deputy, Hon. Funmilayo Okewole; the party chairman, Hon. Taiye Hunpetogi; Alhaji Fatai Ajibola; Hon. Abiodun Akofoyan; and Hon. Bankole Joel.
Chief Obanla, popularly known as Baba Obanla, described the return as a seal on Ipokia’s political strength. “We are happy and proud to have you back. Now, Ipokia is sealed,” he said, urging the returning group to fully reintegrate into the party and work for its future victories.
Hon. Johnson welcomed Akinlade’s group and called for unity and collaboration to move the party forward. Party Chairman Hunpetogi introduced all 12 ward chairmen present and assured the new entrants of full inclusion.
Describing the event as a “homecoming,” other leaders at the gathering echoed the call for unity and described the APC in Ipokia as one big family.
In his remarks, Akinlade, fondly called Triple A, thanked the party’s leadership for accommodating the meeting on short notice. He praised Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for facilitating the reconciliation.
Akinlade, a former member of the House of Representatives and past governorship candidate, said political disagreements were inevitable but surmountable. In a symbolic gesture of humility and peace, he publicly apologized for past conflicts and prostrated in line with Yoruba culture. The act was warmly received.
Calling it a true homecoming, Akinlade declared that the APC is now better positioned to win the 2027 elections across Ogun State.
