Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa has clarified that the suspension of the Portharcourt-Aba train services is due to routine maintenance and nothing more.
In a statement made available to TheWest Newspaper, Dr Opeifa said services on the route will resume on Tuesday 9th September 2025.
There have been rumours spread in hushed tones in some quarters that the train route was closed down for fear of criminal attacks or saboteurs. This comes after the Kaduna-Abuja train derailment some days back.
But the NRC boss assured that as soon as the routine maintenance is completed, the Portharcourt-Aba train services will be resumed without further delays.
