The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos state, on Sunday held its maiden Christmas Carol at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja.
The carol was attended by the Wife of the Governor, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde, APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, Council Chairmen, amongst others.
In his welcome address, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, appreciated God for its goodness and mercy upon Lagos APC, saying that the glory of God upon the party cannot be quantified.
Ojelabi acknowledged the role of God in the victory of the party at the 2023 general elections, adding that the party’s success cannot be dissociated from God’s influence.
” APC has been a winning party in Lagos since 1999. It is not by our power or might but by the glory and mercy of God. That is why we have every reason to praise and worship the most high God. The lord played serious role in the victory of our party both at the state and federal level in the last election.
He urged the party members to remain resolute and united ahead subsequent elections, praying that they would not labour in vain.
However, the governor of the state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu who was represented by his Chief of Staff, said “This is the maiden edition of Christmas carol organised by the party. The first of its kind.
” Mr chairman, this legacy you have set for yourself will outlive you. We cannot forget that under your watch you have produced the first president from Lagos State.
” It is an honour to join the chairman, executive and members of the party at this year’s Christmas carol. We have every reason to be thankful for what God has used our party to achieve at the centre, state and local government.
” As we come together in unity and love surrounded by the festive let us remind ourselves and surrounded ourselves with the theme of endless thanksgiving.
“It could not have been by human power but by the grace of God. The journey of the APC is by resilience and we should also remember the value that binds us”
Sanwo-Olu urged the party members to remember President Bola Tinubu in prayers, adding ” As a fellowship in the spirit of the season, let us remember our father and leader, the president of the country, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
” Let us continue to pray to God to continue to guide him on the path of progress and prosperity for the country. As we look back to challenges of the past, let us be grateful for the lesson learnt and our thanksgiving should not be confine to the past”.
He added “Let us approach the coming year with optimism and commitment to growth. As we express our endless thanksgiving let us continue to work for the growth of our State and the nation. We are in the season of thanksgiving and praise worshiping. I will like you to join me in praising the most High God.”
Meanwhile, different gospel musician from different denomination performed at the event as Bible reading was read by , the national youth Leader , wife of the governor, SSG and Representative of SA to president on Sustainable development goal .
