The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command, has confirmed the death of four persons in a lone road crash that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta.
Fasakin said the accident, which involved a commercial Toyota Hiace bus, occurred at about 9:18 p.m. on Sunday in front of Christopher University.
He stated that FRSC rescue operatives from the Mowe Unit Command responded to the distress call within two minutes.
According to him, 13 persons were involved in the crash, comprising 11 adult males and two adult females.
“Eight persons sustained varying degrees of injuries, including seven adult males and one adult female, while four adult males lost their lives in the crash,” he said.
The sector commander attributed the accident to a tyre burst and speed violation, which led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
He said the injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital for treatment, while the corpses were deposited at Idera Morgue.
Fasakin added that the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the Redeemed Police Station had taken custody of the vehicle and recovered belongings for further investigation.
He commiserated with the families of the deceased and advised motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits and ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles, especially tyres.
