20 members in the Ogun House of Assembly on Wednesday, reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers at a news conference at Iwe Iroyin in Abeokuta, Mr Yusuf Sheriff , the Majority Leader, cited Tinubu’s bold reforms and massive infrastructural development across the country.
Sheriff noted that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria had witnessed significant strides toward economic stabilisation, fiscal reforms, and unprecedented infrastructure growth, particularly in road construction linking key economic corridors nationwide.
The lawmaker explained that the achievements underscored the President’s commitment to repositioning the nation’s economy and strengthening national infrastructure.
He stated that the achievements made him deserving of another term to consolidate on the gains recorded so far.
Sheriff also declared the lawmakers unalloyed support for the gubernatorial ambition of Sen. Solomon OAdeola, popularly known as Yayi.
According to him, the senator has distinguished himself as a seasoned legislator whose record in the National Assembly reflects competence, diligence, and a strong commitment to the welfare of the people.
He highlighted Adeola’s impactful legislative contributions, leadership in critical committees, and consistent advocacy for developmental projects and empowerment initiatives across Ogun state and beyond.
The lawmaker added that Adeola’s vast experience in lawmaking, oversight, and governance positions him as a capable leader to further the “Igbega Ipinle Ogun” agenda of Gov. Abiodun.
Sheriff also disclosed that the 20 progressive lawmakers of the assembly affirmed support for Gov. Abiodun’s next political move after the completion of his tenure.
He reemphasised that the governor’s wealth of executive experience and deep understanding of governance would remain invaluable in any capacity he choosed to serve.
“Having successfully steered the affairs of Ogun state and delivered significant developmental strides, Abiodun is well positioned to continue contributing to governance and nation-building at higher levels.
“We reaffirmed our commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged continued support for leaders whose vision and track record align with the aspirations of the people of Ogun state and Nigeria,” he said.
Messers Olakunle Oluomo (Ogun central), Musefiu Lamidi (Ogun West) and Mrs Omolola Bakare (Ogun East) , spoke onbehalf of lawmakers from the three senatorial districts on reasons for the reaffirmation and endorsement.
